The engine air filter is often one of those components that people really don't think too much about. Since it's under the hood, you're not really having to look at it or think about it too much, but in all honesty, it's one of those really important components. And that's because it's keeping the air clean that's entering into your engine and with a dirty air filter, it's really going to starve your engine of that air. So, it's going to reduce performance, power, and even reduce your fuel mileage and overall drivability.So, just to give you an example on what a dirty air filter looks like, this is the original one that we pulled out of our Highlander and if we kind of separate these pleats here, these are actually what filters that incoming air. more

Today, we'll show you how to install the PTC engine air filter on our 2016 Toyota Highlander.To start our installation, we want to open our hood, and then locate our air box. Our air box is going to be located right here behind our battery. There's going to be two little snaps. We'll simply pull those down, and then we can lift up on our cover. There are little snaps that fit into the side, so we can lift this out of the way. more

Rob: Hey everybody it's Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the PTC custom fit engine air filter on our 2014 Toyota Highlander. Now, if you stick around to the end, we are going to show you how easy it is to get installed but first I'd like to go over some of the features. Now, our PTC engine air filter is going to be a direct replacement filter to the engine air filter on your Highlander. Now, it's going to filter all the air coming into the engine, making sure there's no dirt debris or anything else, but at the same time, it's going to make sure there's adequate airflow so that the engine can run at the optimum performance. So if we don't check or change our air filter, we're going to be robbing ourselves of the fuel economy and the performance that our Highlander can give us.Now, the manufacturer does recommend at least checking it, if not changing it every 12 to about 18,000 miles, but you can double check your owner's manual if you need a more specific time. Now, typically any kind of filter in your car is usually one of the last things you think about. more

Now, typically an engine air filter is one of the last things on our mind. A lot of times we'll either have a reminder on the dash to change the oil, put fuel in our car, all of those things, but a lot of people don't think about their air filters.Well, if we don't change or at least check our air filter periodically, it's going to end up getting clogged up. Obviously, it's going to get dirty because it's filtering all that dirt and debris out before it goes into the engine. Well, if the filter gets clogged or restricted of airflow, we're robbing the engine of the performance and the fuel economy that we want. more

Now an engine air filter is going to be one of those maintenance items that a lot of times people don't think about, but by the time we remember, we're already getting our oil change and some of these turns off an add on item, but on our Prius is going to be so easy to replace, there's no need to pay anybody else. In fact, we have our new filter here, so let's go ahead and check our old filter and replace it if we need to. So if we open up the hood on a Prius. We'll find our air box right here in the center, right behind the latch mechanism for our hood, we're going to have two tabs. Let's pop them open. more

Today on our 2013 Toyota Highlander, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the PTC custom fit engine air filter. So here's the filter that we pulled out of our engine. Now it doesn't look that bad, but if we start looking in between the pleats, you can see that it's actually capturing quite big material, which if this did get into our engine could do a lot of damage. And although the filter doesn't look that bad, when they do get dirty, it gets clogged, and it's robbing our engine of the air it's trying to breathe. So we're losing fuel economy and acceleration.You can see compared to the new one that our filter is actually getting quite dirty. And our filters are custom made, and you can see that it's going to be an exact replacement for our factory filter here. more

AFE Air Filter Installation - 2007 Toyota 4Runner- Video
Today on our 2007 Toyota 4 Runner we will be installing the AFE Power air filter AFE31-10027.The AFE POWER air filter uses a new pro-dry S oil free dryer filter. It has a revolutionary 2 layers synthetic that requires no oil to filter out dirt. Now, this air filter is very simple to install. We'll simply undo the 4 tension clips; 2 on the front and 2 on the back. Then simply lift the top part of the box up and slide the filter out. Then take the new air filter while lifting the front top of the box up then slide the new filter in to place making sure that it is sided in the box then put the lid back on then restore the 4 tension clips. more
